Uvopelto is the European label, using an authentic South African recipe. Produced from locally grown South African grapes, distilled and matured in the South African tradition, and bottled in South Africa. Premium quality, different label.
I'm South African, living in the Netherlands. What I missed most was great South African brandy at a fair price. Just excellent quality, made the right way, that you can enjoy without overthinking it. When I couldn't find that in the Netherlands, I decided to do something about it.
A simple idea: Bring honest, high-quality South African "brandewyn" to South Africans (and friends) living in Europe. Keep it accessible by importing in bulk and focusing on quality rather than unnecessary mark-ups. Overcome regulatory challenges and execute a dream!
As a result, Waterbok Uvopelto was launched in 2026.
No unnecessary margins. Just something we can be proud to pour. Today, Waterbok is focused on serving the South African market in the Netherlands, while introducing others to what proper "brandewyn" should taste like.
